Ashley & Jason – Trash the Dress – Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Well here it is, the much anticipated Trash the Dress session I’ve ever done. A dream come true, I’ve always wanted to do a Trash the Dress in the jungle with a waterfall. My hopes were high and never thought in a million years that I get to do this. On top of that, trying out underwater photography for the first time. I have so much more respect for underwater photographers now. It’s was one of the hardest shoot I’ve ever done, there’s a million more elements added on top the normal photography. It’s dangerous, high risk and simply just insane. The results, I can honestly say that this is the first time that I’m proud of my work based on everything we been through.

The couple and the location can’t be anymore perfect. A huge hand goes out to Ashley, the most hardcore bride I’ve ever had a pleasure to work with, the water was near freezing, dealing with monster crayfish and everything in between. She was perfect in every way.

Having said that, the shoot didn’t come easy.

- Getting jerked around by the hotel excursions evil empire
- Decided we’re better off on our own
- 45 mins hike into unknown territory
- 40 lbs of gear on my back climbing over boulders and sharp rocks
- Wet feet with sand rubbing between your shoes and flesh
- Risking $20,000+ of camera gear
- Fighting with Monster crayfish
- Near freezing water

Would I do it again?…. HELL YA!!!!!! in a heart beat!

Thank you Jason for all your help, you are an amazing underwater photographer. (I’m trying to switch him over to Nikon;))

A big THANK YOU to Dori Fee for being my assistant, couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for hanging out for me for a whole week, it was awesome!

My goodness, this is even better than what I was envisioning. Definitely stunning!

If I had to pick favorites they would be the hands on the underwater rocks & the waterfall behind the Ashley & Jason.

Congratulations!

Ashley & Jason – Wedding – Puerto Vallarta Mexico

I can’t begin to tell you how much fun I had with Ashley, Jason and their families. I’m constantly being reminded how lucky I am to do what I do. This was the first Destination Wedding that I’ve gone by myself and I was worried about not having anyone there to hang out with or just to talk to. Everyone was so very nice, they took me zip lining in mountains and had me repel down a 30 m waterfall. They always add me in to all the activities, breakfast, lunch, dinners, ect… I felt so welcome and part of the family. I can’t thank you enough for making me feel so much less homesick.

The wedding was so beautiful! So personal, Ashely and Jason had a close friend named Dori Fee do the ceremony and they wrote the own vows. Not a single dry eye, I had sand in my eyes that’s why I was crying and that’s the only reason! Ashley and Jason are such good looking people, it didn’t real matter where I put them the photos came out beautiful. The reception…. WOW! One of the best reception I’ve ever been to. It was crazy fun! They broke the dance floor (really they actually broke the dance floor!)! The headbands was the bow on the chairs, five full moons, tequila was flowing and much much more that I can’t write about;)I’ll never listen to Black Eyed Peas – “I gotta a feeling” ever the same way again.

Check back for the Epic Trash the Dress soon!

Ashley & Jason – Esession – Puerto Vallarta Mexico

What can I say, I love these guys! Spending a week with them and their families just makes me love them even more:)

We shot the engagement photos a couple of days before the wedding and the waves was still a little crazy, people were saying that it was the results from the horrible earthquake in Chile. Even with that we ended having a great time, at one point a wave almost took them out. Jason is an awesome swimmer and rescue his sweetheart. Enjoy the photos!

More post from Puerto Vallarta Mexico to come, so check back soon.
